Mendocino Stories & Music Series presents two evenings of fine entertainment on the weekend of August 5 & 6. Both events start at 7:30PM. First, on Friday at the Mendocino Hotel, the Series will present a rowdy night of music with Lenny Laks and John Chamberlin. Lenny and John, aka The Whales, have a set list that stretches from Lenny’s originals to John’s renditions of America’s hip favorites – eclectic Americana in all its’ infinite variety. Special guests are iconic Mendocino songwriter/astrologer Antonia Lamb and bass player/guitarist/vocalist Jon Faurot.
Then on Saturday, the 6th, “The Queen Jane Swingtet” will play at the Hill House of Mendocino. The five-piece jump swing band features “Queen Jane” Lawrence, Karl Schoen, Laura Maione Tom Rickard and special guest, trumpeter Steve Paul. Their swing based repertoire also includes blues, tangos, waltzes, and mambos. The common denominator is that everything in their songbook is aimed at getting folks up and out on the dance floor.
Bistro menu and libations are available as soon as the doors open at 6:30PM. Sliding scale $10-15, as you can afford. For more info call Pattie at 937-1732.
