THE MENDOCINO HOTEL AND GARDEN SUITES CELEBRATES VALENTINES DAY WITH A ROMANTIC FOOD AND WINE TASTING: VERTICAL PAIRED TASTINGS FROM GREENWOOD RIDGE WINERY. PERFUME FRAGRANCE FLIGHTS, BRANDY AND CIGARS.

On February 14, 15 and 16th 2008 Drew Ison the Executive Chef of The Mendocino Hotel and Garden Suites joins with Allan Green winemaker from Greenwood Ridge Winery will collaborate in a vertical tasting of Anderson Valley wines paired with special culinary creations selected from among local organic products and designed to complement the Mendocino Crab and Mushroom Festival.
The dinner menu for the three nights will begin with an Amuse Bouche and the 2006 White Reisling as well as a tasting of the 2002 vintage. The appetizer will be paired with Greenwood Ridge Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2006 and Pinot Gris 2006. The entrée will be paired with a vertical tasting of Greenwood Ridge Vineyards, Pinot Noir 2006 and the 2002 vintage. A decadent chocolate desert will be offered with the Greenwood Ridge Vineyards Zinfandel 2006 and a sample of the 2003 vintage. Guests may select an optional after dinner Germain-Robain Brandy or Crispin Liquer and Cigar experience in the hotels meeting room immediately adjacent to the hotel.
Visitors may also wish to participate each afternoon in the hotel lobby to a free Flight of Fragrances featuring perfumes from Ineke Ruhland, perfumer and creator of the Ineke fragrance line based in San Francisco, will lead a round of perfume “tasting” and discuss the basics of perfumery. This event is in cooperation with Judith Brand man of Perfume Mendo at Gallery of the Senses, Mendocino’s sole provider of Ineke’s perfumes.Couples will receive a gift of his and hers perfumes handcrafted by Perfume Mendo of Mendocino which will include a natural, sensual blend considered by some as an aphrodisiac. Guests may also join Crispin from Green way Distilleries sample and purchase Crispin’s Rose Liqueur Lot 1 2007 made from Mendocino apples, honey and rose petals. the taste is “like being in a room full of roses” according to Jocelyn Thym’s Picky Eaters column in the Contra Costa Times.
Each guest traveling to the Mendocino Hotel on highway 128 will have an opportunity to visit the Greenwood Ridge winery for a Special Wine Tasting and are also invited to optional packages including a spa massage in the hotels “Doll House Spa” a chauffeur driven wine tasting tour and gourmet picnic, kayaking on Noyo River or horse back riding with Lari Shea of Ricochet Ranch.
Mendocino Hotel is a 51 room hotel in the heart of the historic village of Mendocino directly overlooking the Headlands and Pacific Ocean. Carefully restored in 1975 the property is situated on over 2 acres of lush Victorian gardens and offers two award winning restaurants.
